As the others have said, your only choices are cellular and satellite.

With respect to cellular performance, it really depends on the location you're in. A couple of months ago, I went on a trip to Puerto Rico. One of the things that stood out to me while I was there was how good their cellular system is. I mean it's shamefully good. To the point that I'm embarrassed about the cellular service I have back home in a major US metropolitan area. I was able to pull down 4G service over Sprint for the majority of the areas I was in. I took the ferry over to Vieques island which is over 6 miles off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico in the Atlantic. I had 4G service for the majority of the 6 mile trip and only had a service black out for about 15 minutes of the 1.5 to 2 hour boat ride. Once I was on the island I was able to get 4G coverage again. The performance of the 4G service was incredible too. I did a speed test and was able to pull down 30 Mb and upload 15 Mb.

Again, I'm embarrassed with the state of cellular service in the US.
