Your new description sounds like you have two LANs. LAN1 consists of the WAN side of the Netgear router, a desktop and any other device connected to the modem/router. LAN2 consists of at least one PC, a printer, and anything else connected to the Netgear. The Netgear router protects all LAN2 devices from LAN1; LAN2 devices may have limited access to LAN1 devices.
It also sounds like you have another problem--devices on LAN2 cannot "see" each other or access the router. Don't know what the cause is there, especially since you don't seem to have made any changes to it.
