I read the entire manual, cover to cover. The only time that it mentions telnet is when it says, under Access Restrictions, that I can block telnet.
I went to the GUI and telnet is not blocked. It has a menu entry to specifically block it (port 23.)
DD WRT and Tomato both have commands listed on the net for this router, so it is possible.. and actually required to execute some specific commands. I haven't upgraded the firmware, yet, and am still using the Linksys default firmware.. I just want to get the router to establish a connection where I "could" give it commands, to make sure that I am establishing a telnet connection correctly.. because the instructions for flashing the router to a new firmware say that sometimes errors can occur and will seemingly brick the router and the only way to communicate with it would be a telnet type of direct connection.
