Network/Internet problem Cocktail x10

Hi,
I recently bought a Cocktail X10 Hi-Fi CD storage/music streamer device and set it up as follows.

X10 connected (hard wired) to BT Home Hub router via TP-link in houshold ring main sockets.
PC (Widows XP) hard wired (newwork cable) to BT Home Hub.

The set up initially appeared to work satisfactorily. I could play music on the X10 from the - shared - 'my music' files on my PC, download artwork from the internet to the X10 and rip CDs onto the X10's hard drive.

However after a few minutes the X10 starts to - apparently randomly and with no input from me - flicking through various screens usually finishing up on the alarm set screen. Sometimes the X10 will then switch itself off. This fault only occurs when the X10 is connected to the network and appears to function with no problems when the network connection is unplugged.

To try and eliminate any possible problem with the TP-Link connection, I connected the X10 directly to the BT Home hub but the problem still occured.

After exchanging several e-mails with Cocktail UK and trying their suggestions for fixing the problem, I was eventually advised "Could be a flash problem or an issue with the hardware.

Just take it back to the shop for a replacement."

I took the X10 back to the shop and exchanged it for a new unit. Unfortunately the new unit suffers from the same problem as the old one - works OK with the network un-plugged but goes haywire with the network connected.

Has anyone had similar problems or have any ideas as to how I may solve them?

Thanks in anticipation.
G
