I'm running Windows 7 on a partitioned MacBook Pro. Have been doing so for years.
Recently (sometime in December) I started having difficulty logging into AOL mail via my Firefox browser. Found out that my Internet connection (LAN) was set to proxy. Thought I had fixed the problem, until a few minutes later it reset back to proxy.

I've found multiple threads using Bing and discovered that it could be a virus/malware issue. (I do not use Visual Studio 2010.) I installed and used MalwareBytes (found 6 issues that didn't seem related) and also installed and used ComboFix. ComboFix seemed to fix the problem permanently. That is until I rebooted my system, then I was back to the same problem.
I also went into my registry and changed the proxy value to "0" so that it would not start automatically upon boot up. Obviously, that did not fix it.
I'm concerned that my laptop may have been hacked, but I'm behind a firewall and I'm not "seeing" any malicious activity taking place.
If you can help I'd very much appreciate it!
Thank you!
