I have a Dell 4500 from 2002 that has a CNET PRO200WL NIC. I dual boot with Windows XP and Ubuntu 12.04. I am trying to connect a Westell 6100G modem/router from Verizon to it. The problem is that the data light doesn't come on and neither OS can see it. The setup is simply out of the Westell directly into the computer. Ive checked and swapped cables to no avail. The strange part is that I hooked the 6100G up to a Dell 580 from 2010 with a Broadcom Netlink and the data light came on and it worked. So I'm pretty sure the problem is with the CNET PRO200WL.
Also I have a Westell 6100 Rev E. from Verizon, and that works perfectly fine on both the 4500 and 580. I cant imagine that the slightly newer Westell wouldnt work with the old NIC.
Could this be a compatibility issue?
Or is there a firmware problem with the NIC?
Looking for any suggestions to make the PRO200WL work with the Westell 6100G.
Thanks
