So for a while now I've had a problem with the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" setting constantly checking itself. I've searched around for solutions to the problem but haven't found anything that could resolve mine in particular. It seems to happen inconsistently. Sometimes when I turn on the laptop (Windows 7, about 2 years old), the setting is automatically checked, and when unchecked is found to be checked again 10 or so minutes later, sometimes it's not checked at first but checks itself later. Initially the only problem I found the proxy server setting caused for me was that it blocked me access to certain things, so I had to uncheck it before I could proceed to them.
However I noticed that in the last few weeks my laptop has been experiencing much bigger nuisances. At first I found my internet connection to be very slow or unresponsive at certain times when using my laptop, even though it always works perfectly on other devices. Since then I've been having constant reoccurring trouble with slow connections and disconnecting, but there seems to be a lot of incosistency going on which makes it hard for me to find a root to the problem. Sometimes I find that the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" setting is blocking my access, whereas at other times it seems I need the setting on to maintain a connection. Sometimes the problem experienced is a slow connection, other times I get the "limited access" message after a few minutes and need to disconnect and reconnect constantly.
At one point I found that I could maintain a connection only when using Hotspot Shield, however when I subsequently tried this again I had no luck. Likewise, I've found I could connect okay in Safe Mode w/ networking, however the most recent time I tried this I was having the usual trouble.
It all seems very odd to me. I'm having a very hard time as it appears as if my computer keeps moving the goalposts so to speak regarding this problem. The problem as I've said occurs in very inconsistent and unpredictable manners, so it's impossible for me to identify the cause of all of this. The last MalwareBytes scan I ran didn't come up with anything that I could blame for this. I would really appreciate any advice you might have for this predicament.
