Very slow browsing, streaming and almost no downloads (unknown network error)

I don't know if I am connected to a router or directly to a modem. The place where I live there are like 25 houses each getting their own internet connection (with their own data package) from a single source (a device) which is further connected miles away to an office. So I don't know if that device is a router or a modem. But I have called my service provider and will ask him to follow your suggestion. He will probably come and check on Tuesday. I will post you back after my service providers have checked the router/modem. Will surely need some more suggestion if this ain't a router issue.
