It would be much safer to connect via a wire, and it would be faster also. If you insist on wireless though, I would seriously consider upgrading your wireless router to something more current. Your phone company shouldn't need to make any changes if you replace your router (unless it's one that they provide as part of a cable/dsl modem combo device). But if that's the case, they should replace their device at no cost.
