A friend of mine has a windows 7 pro notebook. This notebook is used primarily used for work but does bring it home and uses at home too. Resently I set up a small network of three notebook computers and a file server at his work. They use a netgear switch which also is used for DHCP and their is a wireless router which is used as a access point. While at work they are hard wired to access the server and for Internet. But sometimes they forget to switch over from the wireless connection to the ethernet connection, if they have taken the computer home and used it at home on their wireless home network. The problem is when he brings his computer home and goes on the Internet he can't get on the Internet because his DNS server address has changed to a specific address. Its set to automatically obtain the address at his work, but if he brings his notebook home it changes automatically to a specific DNS address. What he has to do is go to the TCP/IP settings and change it back to obtain address automatically and everything is fine. So its not real big problem but just annoying. Also he only has this problem taking the notebook home and not taking it back to work. What could be causing this and how do I stop it from changing to a specific DNS address?
