My wifi router sits by my computer and is connected by ethernet to my broadband box, which is provided by Comcast.

I'm a bit confused here. A router and a wireless bridge are not the same thing. From the little that I have read about the WET610N on the Linksys site, it would normally be the device connected to the Ethernet port on your Blu-ray player. The WET610N would then use WiFi to connect to a WiFi router (or, if the cable Internet box has built-in WiFi, to the cable box). A dual-band WiFi router listed as being optimized for streaming video would probably be a good choice.

Properly configured, The WET610N could work as a wireless bridge from your cable box to the adapter box you are now using with the Blu-ray player. Is the adapter box sold or recommended by the Blu-ray player manufacturer?

There is another possibility that may be out of your immediate control. There are reports floating around the Internet that some Internet Service Providers are deliberately restricting Netflix bandwidth to the point of causing excessive buffering. A Google search for Netflix throttling should give you a fair number of choices of web sites discussing the issue.
