Hi,
I have a 100Mbps broadband connection through Shaw, using the Motorola SURFboard® SBG6782 modem. The problem is every hour or so, seemingly random, all computers in the network lose the ability to browse or start new connections for roughly 1 to 5 minutes. Any connections that are already active, such as downloads or streams, continue without interruption. While down I am able to ping all computers on the network, and the default gateway with no issues.
My first thought was the DNS, so I changed it in the router to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4), however the problem persists. I'm at a loss for what could be causing this other than perhaps the modem, but it is less than 2 weeks old so I wouldn't expect a hardware problem. I have factory reset it and it did not help. Shaw is equally confused, they tried re seating the connection and that too had no effect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
