OK the users that need access the shares on different computers need to have a local account on those machines. The requirement for a password or not is set in the Advanced Sharing Settings. To avoid issues, make sure that the users use the same user name and password for the local accounts on the computers they need to access. I am not sure exactly what it is you are doing, but these arrangements are a pain, you should consider a mid level NAS for file sharing in a Workgroup. That is the only way to set true granular access to the shares.
