Browsers hang on "looking up"

My gateway spontaneously reset itself, and ever since then I've been experiencing a problem where all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and IE) will hang for a very long time on "looking up" a website. Once the initial page loads, I can click around on the website and everything will load fine. Sometimes the problem seems to fix itself temporarily, but it always comes back. I can fix it by setting a specific DNS address, but the fix doesn't last.

I've run scans using Avira, Malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner, but nothing has resolved the problem. It happens whether I use a wired or wireless connection. Speed test results are normal, and the ISP says everything is fine from their end. The problem does not seem to occur in safe mode.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
