To zx10guy: Thanks for the response, but I wanted more of a how to and just a bit of an overview. I will mention the areas where I need more help.
1. So, if I use a dynamic DNS service, such as noip, I will then be able to connect to my computer with one host / hostname regardless if I am connecting to it using the wireless connection on my phone at home that's on the same network as my computer or if I am using the phone's 4G connection?
1b. If yes, will the dynamic DNS service provider be able to see my files? Or no, since they are being encrypted?
3. How do I use a port other than port 22? How do I specify this in the port forwarding section of my Belkin Interface. Please refer to the link for the pic in my first post that shows the fields for my router interface that needs to be filled in for port forwarding.
Do I simply replace 22 everywhere I already put it with another number and tell the apps on my phone to use that number?
Or
Do I start of with any other number and also include port 22 because the traffic will eventually be redirected to port 22? I ask this because as I said, someone in another forum said for me to use a non-standard port, and forward that to port 22 on my intranet.
If yes to the 2nd option, how would I do that?
4. Thanks for the explanation. I saw in the read me files of OpenSSH some notes about keys and passphrases. They seem a bit too technical right now for me to understand. I guess will have to look online for any tutorials on this subject.
5. Thanks. I figured the solution was restricting the permissions of folders, but once again, I would like to know how to do so.
