As another data point, I wanted to test whether the "fault" lies with the modem part or the router part, so I hooked up my NetGear WNDR4500v2 router to my personal laptop and have been running the internet connectivity monitor for the past 95 minutes. I've had 3 5-second "disconnects" on the NetGear router versus 20 in the same time period on the Arris router, so the modem part is working fine, it's seemingly a setting on the router side....
I'm contemplating shutting down the router side of the Arris router and hooking the NetGear back up but I don't relish the idea of keeping a $200 modem... :-)
