Thank you for caution. He had a Windows 8 Pro retail upgrade license and (believe it or not) that license can be transferred to a new machine. Also, here is a great reference to download any/all Microsoft software license agreements: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/legal...s/default.aspx
BTW, His new rig authenticated just fine after going through the 800# verification process. The only thing you have to make sure of is when the automated voice asks "how many machines is this installed on", you must respond with "only one" (and that is the truth in this case). So, no violations here!
