Hello, I apologize in advance that I don't really know how to come about the information that you probably wish was included right off the bat.
As I said, we have a Netgear router, WGR614v6, that we've had for a long time now. Firmware Version: V2.0.19_1.0.19NA. It is set to Channel 11 where it runs alone compared to surrounding signals, and is on "g and b" mode. We have 3 PCs that use it, 2 iPhones, an Xbox and a newly installed Roku player (issue started before Roku installation and have not changed any since).
One PC runs Windows 7, and the other two are running Vista.
What happens is that we can all be connected on every device, including the Xbox running multiplayer, but then when one of the devices is shut off, goes to sleep or reboots, sometimes the entire connection is lost for every other device then.
When I am out of the house and out of the equation, it is reported that things run smoothly, with them only running into this problem two or three times in a span of a few months, whereas when I am home it happens pretty much daily. I have the Windows 7 laptop and Xbox and an iPhone.
I have tried going into the router settings and using the "Address Reservation" for each MAC address for every device, but we still ran into the problem. I have heard things like Wifi-N devices interfering? I don't really know how to determine that compared to the "g and b" mode (there is no "N" mode, imagine that was not around when this came out).
Can anyone assist or point me in the right direction? Or tell me what to gather so I can help you help me?
Thank you very much.
