100% packet loss but 0% loss to gateway

Using a 3 week old Win 8 Lenovo laptop at work. Usually connect to internet via DSL 'guest' network at work (i.e. no network security passes etc. required) and via wireless at home. No issues until yesterday at work, when certain websites wouldn't load. Since connectivity issues are not uncommon at work, I didn't think anything of it.

Today, I managed to load 2 websites that I use every day for work, but no others. After 10AM no websites would load at all, not using Google Chrome or IE. Disabled and enabled network connection; no change. Attempted to use 'guest' wireless access; no difference. Network Status reported 100Mbps but when I pinged CNN, all 4 attempts timed out for 100% packet loss.

So I waited till I got home in case the work connection was just having some kind of issue (although I wouldn't know what). Restarted the laptop, and it recognized and connected to my home wireless network with no problem. But still no website will load using either web browser. Packet loss is similarly 100% to any website, but there is no packet loss when I ping the Gateway. I run BitDefender, and disabled it just in case some setting had gone awry, but there is no change.

All other computers at my house are working without issue - 2 towers, 1 private laptop and a second laptop issued by my employer and used daily on their secured network.

Since 95% or my work is web-based this is a serious issue for me. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thank you in advance:confused:
