You probably mean Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), not VIOP phone.
Exactly. I'd get a "real" 802.11n router (300 Mbps), but what I call "half n" (150 Mbps) would be fine. Since you have no local area network now you are unlikely to need gigabit ethernet in the foreseeable future. And if your needs change you can add a gigabit switch.
Other than making sure the router has (about 4) ethernet LAN ports and getting 802.11n (150 or 300 Mbps) there is really nothing else for you to worry about.
I would get a brand name router--D-Link, Netgear, Trendnet, etc., not some fly-by-night "brand X."
