new router wi-fi connection

I was never able to get a Netgear wireless adapter working with Ubuntu, but it was with older versions of Ubuntu and slightly different adapters.

I assume that you are using WPA or WPA2 on the router. If so, does the adapter/driver support that encryption type? I'm 99% confident that it does not support WPA2, and may not work with WPA/WPA2 mixed.

Try first to connect with encryption disabled.
