Did something to my aztech homeplug and now I can't have LAN connection?

I do not know if the home plug could currently work on other computers. My brother's home plug can't work for his laptop and as I've heard my uncle say, it could be a laptop configuration problem. My uncle said something along the line of how if you configured it to work on wifi from the beginning, then it needs to be manually configured in some other way for the laptop to enable LAN or something, unlike XP which is auto. My brother's using Windows 7 while I'm using Windows 8. He has been using wifi connection for some time while since I can't use LAN connection now, I'm using wifi.

I'm using a laptop that I bought last week, and it's pre-installed with McAfee Antivirus. There's no light display on my PC LAN port. I have not tried connecting directly to my router.
