So here's my most recent problem in the world of computers. It happens completely at random and sometimes I can open dozens of web pages without experiencing this, while other times it seems to go on for hours. When I open a new url by typing it into the address bar, often it will not load immediately, but will hang on either "Conecting", "Waiting for" (usually the former in the tab title and the latter in the status bar) or "Transfering data". Sometimes it will load after 10-30sec, but occassionaly, I have to stop it, then refresh, or even close the tab, for it refuses to load. If it's a clicked link, if I click it again, usually it loads, but sometimes it doesn't even if I click it 10 times. Also, it will often load the entire page except and element or two (an icon or a script) and it will keep "loading" forever. It is the same with searches from the address bar. On some rare cases (though today it seems to happen more often) it will eventually time out and if it has been, say, a blank new tab, it will just remain blank with the url typed into the bar. This happens in almost identical manner in both Firefox and Opera. And it's not that my connection speed is low and that it takes that much to load the site. I have tested the speed on a certain site and it was about 150kb, loading in under a second, but it often takes me 20 seconds to display it.
Then there is also a similar issue with the ftp. I am using Filezilla and although usually it works pretty fine, the upload speed is never consistent. Sometimes it is very high, the maximum I can get, but other times it is very, very slow, getting as low as 10-20kb/s. If the file is big, it would start fast, then slow down, then speed up again, then slow down and time out. Or if the file is small, it gets to 100%, then hangs there for 5-20s. If it finishes uploading, good, if not, it uploads a 0byte file, restarts the connection and asks for an overwrite.
Edit: There seem to be no issues when using ssh.
I don't know where the problem is and if it's possible to be fixed, but at least I'd like to know what is going on, because it's killing me. It wastes so much time and it's been going on for a while... Is it the router? The DNS? The browser? The computer WiFi config? The ISP? How do I go about troubleshooting this?
Thanks for the help in advance.
