the settings on this computer don't match the reqs of the network

As Couriant suggested an easy first step to resolve the problem is to have the system "forget" its current settings for the wireless network and then re-establish that connection. If you don't know how to do that under Windows 8, you can take the following steps:

Hit the Windows key and I keys simultaneously. The Windows key is the one with the Microsoft Windows logo on it, usually next to the Alt key. If you are connected to the wireless network, you should see it displayed near the bottom of the window that opens on the right of your screen. Click on the icon for the wireless network. You should then see a Networks window with the name of your wireless network displayed within it. Right-click on that name and choose "Forget this network"; have it forget the settings rather than just simply disconnect from the network. Note: you will need to know the network security key for your wireless router to re-establish the connection, so you should make sure you know that before having your system forget its settings for the wireless connection.

You can then re-establish the wireless network connection. You can hit Ctrl-Esc, then type "wireless" to have the system search for wireless apps and settings. On the right-side of your screen you should see an icon of gear with the word "Settings" next to it under the Search window. Click on "Settings". Then choose "Connect to a Network". You should see your wireless network. Reconnect to it supplying the network security key when prompted to do so.

If that doesn't stop the problem from reoccurring there are other steps you can take, but try that first.
