The physical address is probably referring the unique MAC address of your computer. Does your school restrict what can be connected to their LAN or require that you get pre-approval of any computer before connecting?
Assuming you are running Windows, if you run an IPCONFIG /ALL command a Windows command screen, you should see your computer's physical address for each piece of networking hardware in your computer, in the form of nn-nn-nn-nn-nn-nn, where nn is a two digit hexadecimal number. If you have a laptop with a LAN port and WiFi, they will each have their own MAC address.
