I have a WD TV Live network streaming device (WDBGXT0000NBK-02) which is causing me no end of frustrations.
The device is supposed to easily access my Windows 7 network shares but it works intermittently and sporadically. It will function well for a while and then suddenly apropos of nothing it will lose all access to the shares. When it does this I can only get them back by performing a full factory reset and going through the laborious process of set up again.
When setting up the shares I have to disable Look n Stop otherwise it doesn't find them. Once they are set up and working I am able to enable Look n Stop and the 2 happily co-exist. The trigger for the loss of shares usually seems to be if the WD TV is forced to reboot completely rather than just going into standby, 2 days ago however I lost access to the shares when Windows performed a security update. I wasn't able to access them again until I uninstalled the Windows update.
Google searches bring up a lot of issues with the network shares on this device but none of the solutions offered seem to have cured my problems.
Any helpful suggestions very much appreciated.

- I have assigned the WD TV a static IP address and set up a Look n Stop firewall rule to permit traffic from that IP address.
- I have set up a Windows account and password for the shares (I couldn't access them at all using an anonymous account)
- I have made sure that each drive is shared and permissions are set to allow access from the specified account
