If you have no clue, observe the LEDs on the Westell modem/router and on the Belkin router to see what they tell you. Try a device connected directly to the Westell to see if that also frequently loses internet access.
Do the disconnects occur for all devices at the same time? Or is the problem with just one device? When internet access is lost is connection with the router maintained?
If you want a guess, at least part of the problem is likely the Belkin. Six years of service from that particular model is outstanding and you should not feel bad about replacing it,.
