Getting WiFi throughout a house with very dense walls

This Netgear has worked well for us in the US for quite a few years.

Our modem and router is on the 1st floor, towards the left and back of a one story home. My husband's computers are in the basement. His are on the right side and front of the house. As the crow flies, I measured 75 feet away from the router. Since we have pegged hardwood floors and plaster walls, I did not want anyone drilling holes in the walls, floor and subfloor to run CAT cable.

I made sure that both electrical circuits were on the same side of the electrical box.

In fact, I liked the setup so much as a big improvement over wifi, I told an internet friend who lives several states away from me about the benedits. He bought a netgear pair, not the same model, and has his working on the first floor and basement computers too.

At one point, I also had a switch plugged into the one basement unit because my husband was using an XP and 7 computer online.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask. I should mention I decided on Netgear because from reading, it seemed like the easiest to get working. I didn't want to buy more hardware and get frustrated trying to get it to work.
