HP laptop does not detect for networks

Hi, my name is jared. My laptop is an hp dv5 1250us.
It does not scan for available networks. No networks detected. It can't find any available networks.
I tried plugging it in to the ethernet cable directly and had no luck.
No its not a router problem. My wifi works fine. Its currently running windows 7.
Please help me.
